Vintage Magazine Article: "Film Threat" Issue #5 August 1992

Issue 5 of Film Threat magazine included quite a bit of Batman Returns related content. The main article features a fascinating "from the time" look at plot elements rumored to appear in the then-upcoming film, while featured sidebars offer a wide range of reading for a Bat-fan: What happened to Billy Dee Williams? Who had more kills in the first film, Batman or Joker? What was it like being an extra on the set? All this and more can be found in the following scans.... (WARNING! Merchandise Spotlight: Warner Bros. Catalog 1992 Summer Edition

Most folks know of the 1989 edition of the Warner Brothers catalog from the VHS commercial, but did you know WB had a plethora of product available in catalog form for Batman Returns as well? Presented here are all the Batman-related pages from the 1992 Summer Edition of the Warner Bros catalog- Featuring more 90's inspired Bat-fashion and high-end Penguin paraphernalia than you can shake a cat at! Boy do I wish I could have afforded one of those Keaton autographed posters back then...

Vintage Newspaper Clipping: "Not A Funny Movie..." Register-Pajaronian Review June 23, 1989

This review printed in the Register-Pajaronian Review perfectly illustrates the uphill climb that faced the producers of Batman '89. The writer makes it pretty clear what he was expecting when he saw the film; Something more akin in tone to the fun of the 60's show than the dark characters explored in comic works like "The Dark Knight Returns" & "The Killing Joke". Oh well... All the important folks "got it" at least. ;)

Vintage Magazine Article: "SFX" Issue #3

The third issue of SFX doesn't really deliver on the cover enticements (the grappling hook, batarang, and Batmobile have little or no mention inside), but it does offer a great interview with "Batman Returns" art director Rick Heinrichs. And check out all the design artwork that accompanies the text! Beautiful!























Oh... And I figured I better scan that back cover too. I know a lot of you are dying to order a "Penguin Sewer Costume" of your very own. ;)
