2014 marks the 25th Anniversary of Batman and we'll be celebrating all year long with brand new content here at www.1989Batman.com ... But we want you to be a part of the celebration too!
Beginning now and running through May 31 2014, we want you to submit your best "I'm Batman" impersonation video- recreating that classic moment from the 1989 film. All submitted clips may become a part of a special 25th Anniversary compilation video posted right on or around June 23 (the day Batman hit theaters across the US)!
Your submission also enters you into a series of giveaways leading up to the deadline. For all submissions through February 28 2014, you'll be entered to win the Special 25th anniversary edition of Batman on Blu-Ray (which includes a small commemorative book). Other great prizes may follow and will depend on the overall interest and submissions to the contest... So be sure to tell all your friends about it! ;)
Sending your clip is your entry into the contest(s) and also releases rights to the clip to me (so that I can add it into the overall video). If you don't want your video added, I am sorry but that voids your entry... we want this to be a worldwide fandom celebration after all! And if you're under 18, please get your parents' permission before entering! Your submitted video implies that you have done so!

Sideshow debuted full pictures and pricing for their 1/4th scale Michael Keaton Batman Premium Format Figure today! From Sideshow:

Beneath the vast estate of Wayne Manor, millionaire industrialist Bruce Wayne transforms into his crime-fighting alter ego, and descends an iron staircase inhabited by bats into the hidden sanctuary of the Batcave.

Today's post features another great interview from Comics Scene magazine! Quite a gem this time too, as this is an interviewee that didn't pop up much during the heyday of Batmania '89- Screenwriter Warren Skaaren. Skaaren would sadly pass away just a few short months after this magazine hit, making this one of his final printed interviews. Read on to find out Skaaren's thoughts on his changes to Sam Hamm's original script, the missing "Knox as Batman" scene, Robin's omission, and the possibilities of sequels for both Batman & Beetlejuice...

Batman- The Cereal Commercial
Today's vintage video feature is one near and dear to my heart... or should I say stomach? This commercial for Batman- The Cereal pretty much has it all- Shots from the film, an ominous voice over telling of the Dark Knight's unending quest to bring you breakfast, and Batman making a big ol' mess of his cereal for poor Alfred to clean up.
The Batman Cereal is one of my favorite memories of Batmania '89. When folks ask the age old question "What do you consider the best cereal of all-time?", my answer is ALWAYS the Batman Cereal.
It wasn't just the fact that this was a Batman cereal (though I am sure that has helped color my memory of it). This was one of the rare tie-in cereals that I actually enjoyed the taste of. My memory has it tasting a bit like Cap'n Crunch, but with more of a honey sweetness. More like Honey Nut Oh's, except without the actual nut pieces.
Then there was the box... Emblazoned with the movie logo (on both sides in some cases), with a history of Batman printed along one side panel. I can't tell you how many mornings I spent reading and re-reading this cardboard treasure.
Of course the main draw of a cereal for a kid isn't the taste or the box... It is the prize. Batman the cereal had plenty, from flying discs to comics to posters. But the one that everyone remembers is the big honking plastic Batman bust bank. A cereal premium so big that they had to shrink-wrap it to the front of the box! Sure, the face is just a sticker (compared to the fully sculpted version you'd find with Batman tortilla chips)... But who cares? Batman has got your change locked down.
One of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn't take the time to savor my last bowl of this delicious bat-shaped treat. And yes, I am serious about that. Had I known that my last bowl really would be my last bowl, I'd have done something special for it. But alas... All I have are the memories of this delectable taste treat, and a commercial to open up old wounds. *sigh* If you'll excuse me, I'm off to pick the nuts out of some Honey Nut Oh's so I can cram them into this box...
